A detta di molti è la regina del dark, arrivata nel nostro Paese con una delle serie dark romance più amate e seguite degli ultimi anni, tutti ne parlano o ne hanno sentito parlare.

È proprio lei, Pepper Winters.

Io e questa enigmatica autrice abbiamo avuto l’occasione di fare due chiacchiere per la nostra rubrica, quindi venite a vedere di cosa abbiamo parlato!

It’s my middle name but now I’m always called it rather than my first. Pepz, Pepto. Pepperoni…etc 
È il mio secondo nome, ma ora mi chiamano più così che con il mio primo nome. Pepz, Pepto, Pepperoni… etc.

I don’t know much about music as I don’t listen to it so I have no idea lol. Somethingfun and bouncythough.

Non so molto di musica siccome non ne ascolto; quindi non ne ho idea, lol. Qualcosa di divertente e dinamico, comunque.

What’s the movie that has made you cry the most?

Qual è il film che ti ha fatto piangere di più?

To date I’ve never cried in a movie, book, tv show. I think my eyes are broken when it comes to tears ☺

Finora non ho mai pianto per un film, un libro, tv show. Credo che i miei occhi siano rotti quando si tratta di lacrime.

Is there an author you would like to work with?

C’è un autore con cui vorresti collaborare?

Too many to count but I’m hard to work with so I think I’ll always remain a single writer.

Troppi per poterli contare, ma è dura lavorare con me quindi credo che rimarrò per sempre una scrittrice “single”.

If you can choose an author to write your biography, who would he or she be?

Se potessi scegliere un autore/autrice per scrivere la tua biografia, chi sarebbe lui/lei?

Um….good question. I have no idea! Haha. I suppose my hubby would know me best and could do the best job but he’s not an author lol

Um… bella domanda. Non ne ho idea! Haha. Credo che mio marito sia quello che mi conosce meglio e farebbe il lavoro migliore, ma non è uno scrittore lol

What is the last trip you did?

As we can see on Instagram, you have a big passion for horses. Where is this coming from?

Come possiamo vedere su Instagram, hai una grande passione per i cavalli. Da dove deriva?

I’ve ALWAYS loved horses. Even as a child I was obsessed and used to teach in my younger days.

Ho SEMPRE amato i cavalli. Anche quando ero bambina ero ossessionata e ho insegnato equitazione quando ero più giovane.

Well, let’s move on and start talking about your author life.

Clearly your department is dark romance. Why is dark romance so attractive to you?

Bene, andiamo avanti e iniziamo a parlare della tua vita da autrice.

Chiaramente la tua specialità è il dark romance. Perché il dark romance ti attrae così tanto?

I just love the depth you can go into someone’s personality and actions when faced with tough situations.

Semplicemente amo la profondità che puoi raggiungere nella personalità e nelle azioni di qualcuno quando si confronta con situazioni difficili.

You change so many time your writing spot. What’s your favourite one?

Cambi molto spesso writing spot. Qual è il tuo preferito?

My comfy chair at home for sure. I write on the go a lot to cram in as much about life and horses and errands as I can while still keeping on top of my deadlines.

La mia comfortevole sedia a casa di certo. Scrivo un sacco in viaggio per conciliare il più possibile la vita, i cavalli e le commissioni mentre cerco di rimanere nei tempi delle mie scadenze.

If you could make a movie about one of your series, what would it be?

Se potessi fare un film su una delle tue serie, quale sarebbe?

Is there one of your male characters inspired by someone from your past?

C’è uno dei tuoi personaggi maschili ispirato a qualcuno del tuo passato?

Nope, all fiction

No, tutta finzione.

Everyone in Italy is deeply in love with Jethro. He is such a complicated character. Why do you decided he to be in this way?

Tutti in Italia sono profondamente innamorati di Jethro. È un personaggio molto complicate. Perché hai deciso che dovesse essere così?

He was the one that chose who he was. I went along for the journey and didn’t try to stop the flow of how he felt as a story ☺

Lui è l’unico ad avere deciso chi essere. Ho seguito la corrente e non ho cercato di fermare il corso di come si sentiva nella storia.

Have you ever thought to not put the happy ending at the end of the Indebted series? *imagining the readers protesting in the street underneath your house* lol

Hai mai pensato di non mettere il lieto fine al termine di “Indebted”? *immaginando le lettrici a protestare nella strada sotto casa tua* lol

What’s the most creative comment you heard about “Indebted”?

Qual è il commento più creativo che hai mai sentito riguardo Indebted?

Oh, that’s a good one. Too many to count which is AMAZING that so many people liked that series. I guess they liked how original it was with the blend of historical and modern.

Oh, questa è una buona domanda. Troppi per poterli contare, il che è ASSURDO che a così tante persone sia piaciuta quella serie. Credo che sia piaciuto quanto originale fosse con il mix di storico e moderno.

What are the differences between Nila and Tess (“Tears of Tess”), in your opinion?

Quali sono le differenze fra Nila e Tess (Tears of Tess), secondo te?

Tess was very bolshy from the start, Nila was always more subtle in her courage but they’re both equally strong.

Tess è molto piantagrane fin dall’inizio, Nila era sempre più discreta nel suo coraggio ma sono entrambe equamente forti. 

Where is the inspiration for “Tears of Tess” coming from?

Da dove arriva l’ispirazione per “Tears of Tess”?

Q popped into my head one day and I knew I had to write his story!

Q mi è venuto in mente un giorno e sapevo che dovevo scrivere la sua storia!

Now you are writing another amazing series, the “Dollar” one. Do you want to tell to your Italian readers what is it about?

Ora stai scrivendo un’altra fantastica serie, la “Dollar”. Vuoi dire alle tue lettrici italiane di cosa parla?

It’s about a girl who was in captivity for two years and was saved, only to struggle with adjusting to real life, love, and connection.

È su una ragazza che è stata in prigionia per due anni e viene salvata, solo per dover lottare per sistemare la vita vera, l’amore e i legami.

How would you describe the relationship between Elder and Tasmin?

Come descriveresti la relazione fra Elder e Tasmin? (n.d.r. i protagonisti della serie Dollar)

I’d say it gets deeper every day and they’re healing each other equally.

Direi che diventa più profonda ogni giorno e si stanno guarendo l’un l’altra.

If you could choose a series between “Pure Corruption” and “Truth and Lies duet” to transform it into a TV series, what would it be and why?

Se potessi scegliere una serie fra “Pure Corruption” e “Truth and LiesDuet” per farne una serie TV, quale sarebbe e perché?

Oh, can I say both? They’re completely different. Pure Corruption would be very suspenseful and biker-exciting while Truth and Lies would focus more on chemistry and romance.

Oh, posso dire entrambi? Sono completamente diversi. “Pure Corruption” sarebbe carico di suspence e biker-exciting– (n.d.r. non c’è una traduzione in italiano; vorrebbe dire che la componente biker lo renderebbe ancora più emozionante e dinamico) – mentre “Truth and Lies” si incentrerebbe di più sulla chimica e il romanticismo.

Can we go back to the Indebted series? (yes, I love it, lol). If you will ever have to cast this book for a movie, which actors and actresses would you choose?

Possiamo tornare alla serie Indebted? (sì, la adoro, lol). Se dovessi mai scegliere il cast per un film, quali attori e attrici sceglieresti?

That is too hard to answer. The characters in my head don’t match any actors. However, if it ever does go to the big screen I’ll have fun helping cast! Be veryexciting.

Questa è troppo difficile per rispondere. I personaggi nella mia testa non coincidono con nessun attore. Comunque, se andrà mai sul grande schermo sarebbe divertente aiutare a scegliere il cast! Sarebbedavveroeccitante.

If you could go to a date with one of your male character who would he be and why? Or more probably than a date, if you could be kidnapped by one of them...

Se potessi andare ad un appuntamento con uno dei tuoi protagonisti, chi sarebbe e perché? O più che un appuntamento, se potessi essere rapita da uno di loro…

Oh, it would have to be either Q or Jethro lol But I do LOVE the character I’m writing in a new book releasing in January next year. I can’t release the title yet but it’s one of my favourite so far.

Oh, sarebbero Q o Jethro lol, ma amo il personaggio di cui sto scrivendo in un nuovo libro che uscirà a Gennaio del prossimo anno. Non posso dire il titolo ancora, ma è uno dei miei preferiti finora.

What’s your favourite personality trait of your female characters?

Qual è la caratteristica che ti piace di più delle tue protagoniste?

I love that they support and grow but never back down.

Adoro che si sostengano e crescano ma non si fermano mai.

After the conclusion of the “Dollar” series, what will you write? Do you already have any ideas? Can you spoiler something?

Dopo la conclusione della serie “Dollar”, cosa scriverai? Puoispoilerarequalcosa?

Yes, I’m writing the book that is releasing in January. The main character is called Gilbert. That’s all I can give away but he’s one of my FAV so far.

Sì, sto scrivendo il libro che rilascerò a gennaio. Il personaggio principale si chiama Gilbert. Questo è tutto ciò che posso dire ma è uno dei miei PREFERITI finora.

In your opinion, what are the reasons of the success of your books?

Secondo te, a cosa è dovuto il successo dei tuoi libri?

I would love to know that! But I’m just so blown away that people like my writing and stories enough to buy and read. I’mvery, verylucky

Mi piacerebbe saperlo! Ma sono così sbalordita che alle persone piaccia la mia scrittura e le mie storie abbastanza da comprarle e leggerle. Sono molto, molto fortunata.

Is there an advice you would give to the emergent author?

C’è un consiglio che daresti agli autori emergenti?

Yes, keep writing and never stop. You don’t know which book will be ‘it’.

Sì, continuate a scrivere e non fermatevi. Non saprete mai quale libro sarà “quello”.

 

What is your motto?

Qual è il tuo motto?

I don’t really have one but I love ‘Imagination is the preview to life’s coming attractions.’ Verytrue.

Non ne ho proprio uno, ma adoro “l’immaginazione anticipa ciò che ci attrae nella vita”.

Is there something you want to say to your Italian readers?

C’è qualcosa che vorresti dire alle tue lettrici italiane?

YES! Thank you SOOOOO much for reading my work and for being so incredibly supportive. Without you guys the Indebted Series wouldn’t have found such a good home and I’m blown away by the messages and kindness of people reading!

My last question for you is probably the most important one: the only series of yours we have in Italy is “Indebted”. Will the others come as well?

La mia ultima domanda per te è probabilmente la più importante: l’unica tua serie che abbiamo in Italia è “Indebted”. Arriveranno anche le altre?

I believe I’ve just sold more books to Italy yes! I’ll double check the titles but I believe the Truth and Lies Duet and Monsters in the Dark are coming.

Credo di avere appena venduto più libri all’Italia! Controllerò meglio i titoli, ma credo che “Truth and Lies Duet” e “Monsters in the Dark” stiano arrivando.
